Police in Hyogo Prefecture have arrested a man in Kobe’s Suma Ward, who allegedly ordered 110,000 JPY worth of women’s underwear from an online retailer but never paid for the merchandise.
According to the Hyogo Prefectural Police Department, on September 7 of last year, the suspect, a 46-year-old unemployed man, used a fake name and telephone number to order 18 articles of women’s underwear, including both braziers and panties (a total value of 114,000 JPY or 1031 USD) from an online retailer. He had the items delivered to the residence of an acquaintance. Although the suspect was supposed to pay for the items after receiving them via a bank transfer, he never did.
Police found out about the incident after the online retailer approached police with the matter.
Police arrested the suspect on August 30 on suspicion of theft. The suspect has admitted to the allegations, reportedly telling police, “There’s no doubt that I didn’t pay. I bought the women’s underwear in order to wear.”
No word yet on whether the suspect was satisfied with his “purchase.”
