Newly released documents detail an internal investigation at the FBI involving a counterterrorism supervisor who apparently got drunk with a woman at a North Carolina hotel, passed out and proceeded to get robbed.
According to The New York Times, Robert Manson had his Glock .40-caliber handgun stolen along with a $6,000 Rolex watch and $60 in cash while he stayed at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.
“Investigators determined that the victim, Robert Manson, met a woman in the hotel bar the prior night and took her back to his hotel room,” said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department spokesman Robert Tufano in a statement.
Manson and other agents were in town back on July 9 for training when they reportedly began drinking with several women who said they were exotic dancers.
Police were called the next day around 6:30 a.m. by one of Manson’s peers, as he was still incapacitated.
No arrests have been made in the case involving the woman and the unit chief, who oversees all terrorism investigations in the Midwest and the Carolinas.
The gun is also still missing.
It’s unclear where Manson was keeping his firearm, but FBI rules bar agents from leaving their weapons unsecured.
