Argument During Chess Match Leads To Shooting

One man was arrested and another sent to the hospital after an argument during a chess match turned violent Tuesday night.

According to a probable cause statement from the Denver District Attorney’s Office, the victim was playing chess with 43-year-old Kapatrick Bolling at Bolling’s home on S Cherokee St when they got into an argument that became physical. That’s when Bolling allegedly pulled out a .22 caliber handgun and shot the victim twice, once in the head and once in the abdomen.

The victim ran away, and police found him on W Cedar Ave. He was taken to Denver Health, where he told a detective what happened.

The probable cause statement says Bolling admitted to the shooting.
